Adding a new member to your family can be an exciting yet daunting process.

Matching the right people to the right dog is important to us, that's why at GSDs in Need we employ a thorough screening process (for both human and canines!) that ensures that both you and your new furry friend are the perfect match.

Whilst our end goal is to place dogs with forever families, we do adhere to a few strict adoption policies. Our policies and procedures and our adoption process are based on years of experience by experienced trainers and industry professionals.

• We do not place our female rescue dogs with another resident female.  The majority of the female GSDs in our care are surrendered for female to female aggression. It would be irresponsible for us, based on our statistics, to rehome a female GSD where there is a resident female. Often the issues do not manifest immediately.

• Under no circumstances will our rescue dogs be placed in a family for guarding or security purposes. Our rescue dogs who go to pet homes only and must be treated as integral members of the family.

• Our dogs are not free. Finally, we ask that people fully consider the financial and emotional commitments associated with taking on the responsibility of a dog. Many of the dogs that come into our care have behavioural and medical issues, have been in multiple homes, or have not been treated how they should - so we ask that you take this into consideration and understand that we are occasionally their final hope and second chance at a better life and that our motivations lay in finding them a loving forever family.
