GSDs in Need offers boarding and doggy day care to medium and large breed dogs. Unfortunately we are not able to take small breeds.
Leaving your beloved family member in the care of another can be extremely worrying. Here at GSDs in Need not only do we physically care for your dog their emotional well being is also important to us. If your dog appears to be highly stressed in the kennels they are moved to the "penthouse" away from the kennel area.
We are run and manned by volunteers - however this means that the people who are here caring for your dog are here because they want to be and because they love caring for the dogs, playing with them and ensuring the highest level care.
Many often comment that the kennels are so quiet (unless we are moving dogs around). Our rescue dogs for whom this is their home get outside time each and every day and interaction and attention from our volunteers. When your dog is boarded here they become an extended member of our family and we go above and beyond to ensure that their stay with us is as stress free and fun filled as possible.
Our rescue dogs are lovingly cared for so you can be sure that your dog will receive the best level of care when they stay with us for training.
We have a hot weather policy - we have thermometers located in the kennels and outside and we have hot weather procedures when the temperature exceeds 30C - this means that water buckets are checked and topped up every 15 minutes, water buckets outside in the day runs are moved into the shade and checked to ensure the water is cool enough to drink, shell pools and we have industrial fans to keep the kennel block cool.
In winter all dogs in our care have blankets on their beds and wear coats at night. Clean blankets are provided each day.
Our dogs are fed twice a day to minimise the risk of bloat and we cater to a wide range of dietary needs. We are also experienced in caring for dogs with medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, DM, arthritis, EPI, IBD and other medical conditions
We do not kennel your dog with another dog. Many are not aware that this is common practice in the kennel industry especially at peak times.
